The assistant

Ask your books a question. Get the answer, the table, the chart.

A chat panel sits beside your books. Ask in ordinary language and it reads your company file and answers with the real figures. Ask for a chart and it draws one. Ask it to invoice a customer and it prepares a draft for you to check. It does not give tax advice.

  • Answers from your own ledger: who owes you, how last quarter went, what cash stands at.
  • Tables and charts on request, reports run inside the conversation, a PDF when you ask for one.
  • Drafts sales invoices and other entries for you to check. Nothing posts itself.
  • Reads photographed or screenshotted receipts and invoices with offline OCR, and turns spreadsheets into drafts.
  • Finds and opens any record you name. Conversations are kept.

  • One file per companyEvery company is a single .db file on your own computer, stored wherever you choose. Nothing is sent anywhere. Several companies sit side by side, and you switch between them from the sidebar.
  • Backups on a scheduleFrom every six hours to once a month, plus Back up now whenever you like. Saabi keeps the number of copies you set and discards the oldest.
  • To your own drive or NASInto your iCloud Drive, Google Drive or OneDrive folder, a folder on this computer, or your own NAS or WebDAV server (Nextcloud, ownCloud and most NAS boxes), where backups upload automatically once you sign in.

How do I pay?
By debit or credit card at the checkout. It is one payment of USD 200, with no subscription and nothing to renew.
How do I get the app after paying?
Paying brings you straight back to our download page, with the macOS and Windows builds on it, so you install it minutes after paying. Your licence key is on the same page — copy it, or save it as a file. Saabi checks it on your own machine and never sends it anywhere, and there is still no account to sign into. On a new computer, unlock the downloads again with the email you paid with: download Saabi Desktop.
Which operating systems does it run on?
macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) and on Intel Macs, and Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Three builds, two platforms. There is no Linux build today.
Is the app signed?
Not yet. The builds carry no code-signing certificate, so the first time you open the app the operating system warns you that it does not recognise the publisher. On macOS, right-click the app in Applications, choose Open, then choose Open again. On Windows, choose More info, then Run anyway. You do it once per computer. The steps are written out on the download page, and signed builds will replace these at the same links.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not for day-to-day use. Your books, the reports and the local assistant all work offline. You need a connection to download the app and, the first time you choose Local, the model itself; after that, only for a hosted AI key (Claude, OpenAI or Gemini), for uploading backups to your own NAS or WebDAV server, and for updates.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Each company is a .db file on your own computer and nothing is sent to Saabi. Backups go only where you point them: a drive folder on your computer, a folder of your choosing, or your own NAS. If you connect a hosted AI key, your questions and the names in your books go to that provider so it can understand the question; the figures are still read locally, and Local sends nothing at all.
Which AI does it use?
A local model that runs on your computer, by default: no credits, no AI subscription, nothing leaves the machine. If you prefer a hosted model, paste your own Claude, OpenAI or Gemini API key in the Intelligence panel. Your key is kept, so you can switch between Local and the hosted model whenever you like.
Can I use it outside the UAE?
Yes, anywhere. Pick your country when you create a company and Saabi sets the chart of accounts, the currency and the number and date formats: 44 country-specific charts plus a standard chart for everywhere else, any currency, and an interface in 20 languages.
How is it different from Saabi Cloud?
Saabi Cloud is a hosted, monthly-plan service for UAE businesses, with WhatsApp bookkeeping and VAT and Corporate Tax filing services. Saabi Desktop is a one-time purchase that runs on your own computer, anywhere in the world, with a local AI assistant and backups you control. The comparison above has the details, and saabi.ai covers the Cloud product.
Can I move between computers?
Yes. A company is one .db file. Copy it to the other computer, install Saabi Desktop there and open it with Existing Company on the Welcome screen. A backup works the same way: restoring is opening the file.
Is there a manual?
Yes, a full one: 58 chapters covering every screen, from creating your company file to the keyboard shortcuts, with a PDF to keep. Read it online or download the PDF.
What about VAT or tax filing?
Saabi Desktop is not tax-compliance software. It files no returns in any jurisdiction and gives no tax advice; you set up your own tax templates and rates and talk to a local accountant. If you are a UAE business that wants VAT 201 and Corporate Tax filing handled, that is what Saabi Cloud's services are for.
